The University Estates:
- We have 229 buildings
- A gross internal floor area of over 887,000 square metres
- 667 acres (270 hectares) of land including farms, smallholdings, cottages and agricultural land
- Over 30 listed stuctures, which include The Manchester Museum, Whitworth Art Gallery, Lovell Telescope, John Ryland Library and the Old Quadrangle.
- In excess of 50,000 rooms
Within the Directorate of Estates and Facilities....
- Over 80,000 reactive repair requests and over 600 'out of hours' emergency repair/requests to make safe, in both academic and residential buildings, are received per annum
- Over 8,600 security incidents are attended to per annum There are over 200 'live' projects managed by the Design Services Unit at any one time;
- 530,000 square metres of internal areas are cleaned each day. 14 hectares of external areas are cleaned per week
- Over 600 videos are produced per annum, including graduation ceremonies, high profile events and promotional material
- There are 277 centrally bookable teaching rooms
- 22,106 lamps were replaced on campus last year
- There are 68 Green Impact Teams across the University
- Over 7000 conference and meeting enquiries were handled last year with a total number of events of 1,060, comprising of 45,087 delegates
- There are over 3,600 parking spaces on 12 car parks and over 2,700 cycle parking spaces (on campus and at Residences)
- Over 4,500 tonnes of waste are recycled or disposed of per annum
- 65,000 litres of fresh soup is produced on campus each year
- Catered halls serve in excess of 350,000 breakfasts and evening meals each year
- Over 1,800 bikes have been registered on the free University bike security marking scheme
