Re-modelling and refurbishment works

Following recent investment into the refurbishment of the Ground Floor of the Main Library and the Alan Gilbert Learning Commons Building, further significant investment in library facilities is planned. Remodelling and refurbishment of the Main Library is required in order to accommodate the relocation of the Joule Library from the North Campus and to provide enhanced and modern library facilities.

The investment in the Main Library gives the University of Manchester the opportunity to rethink its use of library space in a way that hasn’t been possible since the 1980s as well as addressing long term maintenance needs. All works will require to be carried out in a live operational library environment, and it is anticipated that construction works will commence in 2015/16.
