Electric vehicle charging on campus

The University currently has eight electric vehicle charging bays in Booth Street West multi-storey car park (car park D); four on the ground floor and four on Level 1.

There are also four charging bays in Cecil Street (car park E).

These are part of the GMEV network of over 150 charging points across Greater Manchester. They are available to all users of the car park (staff, public and other) on a first come, first served basis. Normal access arrangements and car park charges apply to all users.

Currently, provision of electricity is free of charge but financial charges are expected to be levied in the future by GMEV.

To use the points please follow the instructions on the GMEV website. A mobile phone can be used or a smartcard. There are also instructions on the points themselves.

Please note, in the event of all bays being full there is a rapid charge point at Manchester Metropolitan University, off Chester Street and other GMEV charge points in the vicinity. For locations please see the map on the GMEV homepage.

The University’s Environmental Sustainability website has more information on sustainable car travel.
