Jodrell Bank waste arrangements

Jodrell Bank Observatory and Discovery Centre

Different waste arrangements are in place at Jodrell Bank due to its location and the availability of waste contractors in that area.

General waste and recycling collections are carried out by Cheshire East Council.

Waste is collected in 2 different waste streams – general (non-recyclable) waste, and mixed recycling consisting of the waste streams detailed in the mixed recycling info (see useful documents, right of page).

General (non-recyclable waste) is collected and returned to Cheshire East's Environmental Hub in Middlewich before being disposed of as Refuse Derived Fuel at the Viridor Waste Management Ltd site in Runcorn. See here for further details.

Mixed recycling waste is also collected and returned to Cheshire East's Environmental Hub before being sent to Biffa's Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Teeside. See here for further details.

Full details of the waste sites used as well as Cheshire East's waste carrier information are detailed in the waste register in the “useful documents” box, right of page.

In addition to the above, weekly food waste collections take place via a company called Olleco and the waste is treated at Refood's Anaerobic Digestion (AD) Facilities in Widnes - see here
